This is our first 'coloured' soap recipe. There are a number of ways you can colour your soaps, including clays, plants, root powders, micas, fresh fruit or vegetable puree or pulp and more. Plants can be brewed into tea or infused into oils. Clays and powders are often added directly to the soap batter, either dispersed dry into oils or after trace.
The oils and ingredients you choose to make soap also has a huge impact on the colour of your soap. Both carrier oils and essential oils impact the final colour. Lighter oils, like coconut oil will give light and more whitish soap and essential oils, particularly of the citrus family will give a somewhat light yellowish hue to your soap.
Unrefined avocado oil is not only amazing for skincare, but gives soap this beautiful fresh green colour.
In this recipe I use unrefined Avocado oil to colour the soap. Oils are great as colorants because they are part of your base recipe and you do not need to add extra additives to colour the soap.
This recipe contains more than 60% unrefined Avocado oil. It is scented with Lavender, Lemongrass and Peppermint essential oil. Avocado oil and butter are the stars of this recipe, making it silky, creamy, and moisturizing. No more dry skin with this bar.
This batch makes approximately 1000g of soap.
