All About Our Soap Mixes

Imagine if making your own handmade soap from scratch was almost as easy as Melt, Mix and Make!  Well, it can be, with our easy to use Soap Mixes.

 I have released these Soap Mixes because it is something I wish was available 10 years ago when I started making soap and was a nervous mess – trying to gather the ingredients, learn the process and understand the lingo! 

They are based on recipes that I have formulated and used over the past 10 years and continue to use.  I want to make the process of making soap simpler, whether you are a start-up or are already making soaps and running your own business.

What are they?

Our Soap Mix pre blends are simply bottles of pre-mixed oils to make it easier for you to make handmade soaps. We offer a Luxury Shea Butter Soap Mix, which is palm oil free, and a Basic Soap Mix which offers great lather! They are both offered to make the process easy, fun and enjoyable.

Why Should You Use Them?

These are some of the recipes that have been developed and used over the past 10 years by Olive Handmade Soaps.  They are true and tested.  Formulating and testing any recipe can be quite an intimidating and daunting process.  This is one of the reasons we created these blends – to save you the time and effort of formulation.

Soapmaking is both an enjoyable hobby and satisfying business.  It can get quite tedious with all the preparation, especially with getting all the ingredients together and then weighing the different ingredients.  This is where the most time is spent.  This is also the reason why many soapmaking companies choose to master-batch their oils.  Our bottles are like mini-masterbatches.  All you need to do is pop open the bottle, weight out 900g and start making soap!

The Soap Mixes allow you to buy the exact amount of oils (pre-blended, off-course) for the recipe.  You do not need to buy full amount of each oil and not be able to use it all up.  With the Soap Mixes, you only buy enough for the soap you are going to make.  As an aside, this was one of my biggest struggles over the years, buying ingredients in bulk meant sitting with them for long periods of time between soap-making sessions and that tied up the capital quite badly.  Off course we had the option of buying smaller quantities but would miss out on the price benefit of buying in bulk.  I do wish that in the early years we had the option of buying these Soap Mixes, instead of sitting with drums of oils worth of capital.

The ingredients used in our Soap Mixes are pure natural oils that will allow you to make pure cold-processed handmade soap from scratch, as opposed to melt and pour soaps.  One of the reasons people use Melt and Pour, especially when starting out, is the ease of use but there is no ingredient transparency, so you are never entirely sure what goes into your soap.  However, our Soap Mixes are as easy to use – Weight, Mix, Make!

Our Soap Mixes are highly customisable.  You can scent them with essential oils or fragrance oils of choice.  Colour them with powders, micas and clays!  And you can replace water with your choice of teas, milks or even aloe gel!  Add honey and you have yourself Honey and Shea Butter Soap. Mmh, imagine Eucalyptus scented Soap, coloured with Green Clay and Made with Aloe Gel…Eucalyptus and Aloe Shea Butter Soap! I feel a recipe coming up!
